The board consists of a 5 mm closed cell cross linked polyethylene resilient layer laminated to moisture resistant tongue and groove chipboard. Karmafloor acoustic overlay chipboard is designed to reduce impact sound through floors using a heavy material isolated by a softer resilient layer. The chipboard component adds mass to the floor to help eliminate impact sound transmission whilst the resilient layer effectively deal with airborne sound.

We recommend using 100mm of acoustic floor insulation and a density of between 60kg m 80kg m to increase the soundproofing between floors. They represent an essential component within a complete soundproofing system. Xps is the preferred choice of insulation for this application due to its very high compressive strength and closed cell structure which means it is not affected by moisture associated with concrete floor slabs. Stopping airborne and impact sound will result in the highest levels of sound insulation or both timber and concrete floors.
